Saturday Nights Upcoming Action
The Super Stocks return
This is a fast, fun class; it is the half way point between Pure Stock and Modified’s. Bigger engines, more suspension options and racing parts are allowed as well as frame and body changes. The #85 driven by Rob Colclasure has won at least 2 of the Super Stock races here at Arizona Speedway, so count on him being up front. This is one of #82 Steve Sabowski’s favorite classes and he runs a Mach 1 Mustang with a 429 big block engine. Brandon Roper #27c is another one to keep an eye on as he has improved every time the Super Stocks Race.
X-Mod’s
Cody Graham #43 has dominated this class for the last 3 races. James Webster #51 has been improving every week, yet he did not come last week. Tyler Mecl # 911 was looking very impressive in his heat race last week till he was hit and spun into the front straight wall. I think Mecl had his car dialed in last week but the accident hurt his set up, my prediction is that we are going to see some close racing with the X-Mods tonight.
S.C.R.A.
Matt Martinez #21m has dominated all but one SCRA race at our track. However #99 Bobby Erdman (the one driver to beat Martinez) and Chris McCurdy Jr. #23jr have been real close to unseating the champion Martinez. Don’t rule out #47 Darrin Olney who led 12 of 15 laps in the last SCRA race. Plan on some serious wheel to wheel and 3 wide racing action in this class tonight.
Total Seal Mod Lites
Their name may be “Lites” but the way they race is defiantly not. These cars reach speeds over 100mph in the straight away. Their open wheel design makes the way they race exciting as a simple rub can turn into a major roll over as we saw a few weeks ago in the dwarf car class.
Bombers
I
Justin Loflin, in his police car (with siren), the X01 has won this class for the last 2 weeks; he started in the very last position last week and will again tonight. As Loflin got to the front we saw the first 3 cars 69xxx Darrin Schiller, 28 Jim Skaggs, and Loflin, 3 wide as they battled for the lead. Count on some heavy duty racing in this class. Their cars may be entry level but the hearts and desires of these drivers is pure championship racing. Dirt tracking on a Saturday Night!!!!
