USAC Non Wing Sprint Car super stars set the stage for Saturday nights 3rd annual Spring Fling program. Bill and Terry Michaels backed R.J. Johnson will lead the USAC hopefuls into Saturday nights event after coming off a win at Yumas Cocopah Speedway and will look to start a streak in his quest for the 2015 championship. Johnson will not have an easy task as Stevie Sussex and multi time champ Charles Davis Jr. will also be looking to make a statement with a win in Saturday nights feature. Newly crowned Western World champ Matt Rossi who is currently in 4th overall in championship points will challenge for win number 1 of the 2015 season as Josh Pelkey will round out the top 5 in the ABC Motorsports / Robbie and Gaye Allen backed machine. If you have not been to a non wing sprint car show at Arizona Speedway this is something you have to see!
X-Mods, Mod lites and Robert Horne Ford Bombers also add to the excitement of the Spring Fling card. Current leader of the S.W. X-Mod Championship Ron Schreiner will try and make it 2 in a row at Arizona Speedway and improve on his 2015 championship effort. Schreiner leads reigning champ Eric Winemiller and Kelsie Foley into Saturday nights feature. Winemiller will contest for his second win of 2015 and Foley who has 3 heat race wins in a row will challenge for her first win on the season.
Modlite racing returns as well for the first time in 2015 and have boasted record car counts so far in 2015. This firecracker division made up of young guns and veterans alike promises to bring high speed, wheel to wheel racing all night for this years Spring Fling spectacular. Adam Echter will lead the field into Saturdays feature followed by 2014 champ Brenden Priest. Austin Kuehl, John Priest and Josh Rivera round off the top 5 going into Saturday night.
Robert Horne Ford Bombers finish the card after a rough night of action this past Saturday. Toby Wibeto who was hard into the wall this past weekend will come in tied with last weekends winner Virgil McArthur for the 2015 points lead. Current champ Steve Soboski, CAS champ Mark Farnes and Geoff Jones cap off 3rd thru 5th in the division.
Racing action begins at 7:15pm this Saturday night April 18th . Cost of admission for this special show is $15 for adults, $12 seniors, $5 kids 7-11 and kids 6 and under are FREE. After an epic opening weekend the stage is set for battles all season long. We return to racing this Saturday night at Arizona Speedway with Modifieds, X-Mods, Pure Stocks and Bombers. Ricky Thornton Jr continued to be the man to beat in the San Tan Ford Modified division as he claimed victory in the opening night of racing at the Frank Soboski Memorial. Going green to checkers the 24 car field provided the fans the show they came to see with battles through out the field. Thornton crossed the line first followed by the young gun of Chaz Baca Jr and North Dakota racer Shawn Strand . Don Earven and John Morris Jr rounded out the top 5. Brian Schultz currently leads the championship field 4 points ahead of Don Earven.
X-Mods will hit the speedway for the first time in 2015 points racing as the monster field of South West X-Mod Championship drivers are expected to show up in full force. The combined series between Central Arizona Speedway and Arizona Speedway is currently lead by “The Modern Day Outlaw” Ron Schreiner followed by 2014 champ Eric Winemiller and Austin Stewart. Kelsie Foley who will make her first appearance at Arizona Speedway sits in 4th position followed by Nolan Morrow. X-Mods will undoubtedly challenge for race of the night honors.
Neils Garage Cabinets Pure Stocks will pick up where they left off last Saturday night with edge of your seat excitement from some of the best in the business. Saturday nights feature saw incredible racing from the front to the back. All of the top 5 drivers had a shot at the win during the main if any of the other drivers made a mistake. Zachary Madrid went error free picking up the win on opening night. Tyler Mecl picked up 2nd in the borrowed ride with championship contenders Daren Olney and Kevin Parker finishing 3rd and 4th with Ty Weidner rounding out the top 5.
Robert Horne Ford Bombers will complete the card coming off a wild night of racing that saw repeat champion Steve Soboski claim victory in his fathers memorial race in fitting style. Also noteable that in a 25 car field at one point during the night the entire Soboski clan either lead a lap or was in the top 3 of the memorial race. Clan including Steve Soboski, Michael Soboski, Ben Soboski and Justin Loflin. The 82 machine would take the win with Dean Mainville , Justin Loflin , Toby Wibeto and Michael Brigner clinching the top 5 spots in hard fought battles.
